The term ‘’pseudo’’ means ‘’lying, false, fake, simulation, imitation or spurious’’. In ophthalmological literature, there are more diseases/conditions/signs/phenomena called ‘’pseudo’’.The literature search was performed based on the terms in medical subject heading (MeSH) and keywords in the title and (pseudo-), (fake), (false), (mimicker), (simulator), (maquerade), AND (condition)AND(causes) AND (ophthalmology)OR (eye) OR (ocular) OR (ophthalmic) OR(cornea) OR (retina) OR (strabismus) OR (glaucoma). The search was limited to English.Major databases including Pubmed, Medline, Scopus, GoogleScholar, OVID, EBSCO and Cochrane Library were used for seeks. In this review, we tried to summarize common ‘‘pseudo’’ conditions in ophthalmology and their common causes. We consider that to know these pseudo-conditions will provide significant benefits in the differential diagnosis of various ophthalmic disorders.

Keywords: Pseudo, fake, false, condition, mimicker, simulator, masquerade, ophthalmology.
